Overhead fault passage indicators for MV lines 5–38 kV.

Current-sensing fault passage indicators, JYZ-HW/HT series, clamped directly onto the overhead conductor. When a fault current passes, an ultra-bright 360° LED flags it — visible from a distance, day or night — so crews find the faulted feeder section in minutes. An optional communication unit brings that indication straight to your SCADA.

Key specifications

  • Voltage: 5–38 kV overhead lines
  • Detection: current-sensing, short-circuit & earth fault
  • Signalling: ultra-bright 360° LED
  • Comms: optional communication unit → SCADA
Capabilities

The fastest way to see a fault on an overhead feeder.

A simple, rugged device that turns hours of line patrol into a glance down the feeder — and, when connected, into a real-time SCADA event. Read our guide on fault passage indicators →

Current-sensing detection

Ammetric indicators that flag the passage of a fault current on the conductor.

  • Short-circuit detection
  • Earth-fault detection
  • Adjusts to line voltage & frequency

360° LED signalling

Ultra-bright light indication visible from a distance, from any angle.

  • Highly visible day & night
  • 360° all-round view
  • Fast on-site fault location

Feeder monitoring

Watch MV feeders and outgoing lines section by section.

  • Per-section indication
  • Faulted segment bracketed
  • Shorter patrol times

Optional communication

Add a communication unit to report the indication remotely.

  • Integration with a DCU
  • Remote reporting to SCADA
  • Permanent / transient distinction

Long, maintenance-free life

Self-powered by the line with backup battery for years of unattended service.

  • Line-powered + backup battery
  • Up to 10+ years maintenance-free
  • Built for harsh outdoor conditions

Simple, fast install

Clamped straight onto the conductor — no outage, no complex setup.

  • Hot-line clamp mounting
  • Self-configuring (model-dependent)
  • Automatic or manual reset

How it works

See which section saw the fault.

Detectors sit along the feeder. When a fault passes, every indicator upstream of it lights up; those downstream stay dark. The faulted section is the one between the last lit detector and the first dark one.

/01

Fault current passes

The ammetric indicators on the conductor detect the abnormal current.

/02

LED flags it

Each detector that saw the fault lights a bright 360° LED, visible from the ground.

/03

Optional SCADA report

With a communication unit, the indication is relayed to the control centre.

Fault detectors deployed on the CI-ENERGIES network

As part of the NEDA project (World Bank funding), more than 300 fault detectors were installed on the Ivorian distribution network — the clearest proof of what overhead fault detection delivers at scale, delivered by the ENERTEC group.
